Friggin house

We asked the owners to contibute 4,490.00 to the cost of replacing the roof and the breaker panel.

They said no, not for the price we were going to pay for it.  But, they would take the higher cost of the home (214,000 instead of 206,000) and give us 8,000.00 back at closing.  We decided that worked for us.  Now to get it in writing so I feel comfortable to having an appraisal done and request our loan documents to be modified to reflect the higher loan cost.

Then decide if we want to pay for the roof upfront or finance it and have more money for our vaca.  One of the first things to get done will be replace the breaker panel (that and buy paint).

I don't think there is a difference, just the way the money floats around.

They bought the house for 186,500 two years ago and took out a 2nd for 45,000 last year.

This reminds me of when I was in CA and trying to trade in my motorcycle for a truck (I was moving back to IL) and the guy wanted to charge me more for the truck and then give me more for the trade in for my bike -- but he made it look like they bought my bike for cash and I put that cash down on the truck.

Confused?

I was -- I balked -- and found out what they were trying to do was wrong -- and illegal ... so when they were trying to get me to leave before I could figure out that I had them over a legal barrel, I told them I would leave -- with the $3k they paid for my bike.

They argued that they did not do that and I waved my contract (that I had not signed) in their faces telling them according to my contract, you bought my (1982 Honda Magna, worth <$1k) bike for $3k.

So they cut me a check and I left .. w/o realizing that what they did was so illegal, I could have owned the truck outright, for free .. I just didnt know how much over the barrel I had them. :o(
