You know those people you see at the Gorge (http://www.hob.com/venues/concerts/gorge/)  or other places wearing shirts that say Event Staff, Alcohol Enforcement, etc?  That would be me now.  This weekend I get to work "inspections" which really means I will be takingaway all the open containers, etc from the very very very difficult, distructive kids who attend the Van Warp tour (http://www.hob.com/tickets/eventdetail.asp?eventid=37977 ).  I am so out of what is cool, I only recognize one band, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.  These fans like to try to burn down the campground, trash cans, tip the potty over (sometimes with someone in it), paint the cars in the parking lot and other joyful things.  I do hope there is security at the employee only parking.

Bummed about missing Pearl Jam though next weekend.  We are going to be off camping with the leather crowd.  I would rather be at Pearl Jam.  Hole is later on in August (another concert I don't care if I hear or see) and Labor Day Weekend is 3 days of Dave Matthews Band.  There are employee only campgrounds so I might just stay up there that weekend.  I am trying to talk Mark into working there too (so he can set up the tent and help my Ambian addled self find the potty).  I can't imagine working security at the camp grounds, I have heard it gets a little rough up there.  

This company also does some local fairs (oh, yippee, I might be watching rodeos all week in August) and WSU football (where you are not allowed to root for the other team).  Not sure if I want to work that or not.

It is better than no employment since I can't seem to get even an interview anywhere around here.  At least I can add something to the resume.

There are rules out the ass for this job, including what you wear, how you act, etc.  I spent bucks last night in Wally World picking up some things that I will need (belt, haven't owned one in years), sunglasses, a white hat, a no logo (no logos on anything) butt pack.

I am tired just thinking about Saturday.  Not a good sign.  It will be hot as hell too.

There's something about concerts at the Gorge that turns otherwise and borderline normal people into freaking morons. I hated working AAA last summer for all the calls we would get out there.

It is probably because they are all fried from sitting in the hot sun and drinking overpriced beer. Then it is as dark as hell out there and you are so screwed if your car doesn't start (and some have to wait until the parking field empties out to try and find where they left the car, we would just set off the alarm and follow the sound).
