Have I told you about the infected toe?

I might have mentioned it when I got the boot off from the broken foot.

Recap: I developed a blister at the end of my left big toe.  There was a distintive line that went around my toe.  I made the mistake of  popping it.  It got infected.  I ended up getting a referral to the wound center.  I have this entire process that takes a good 15 minutes to get through each day.  Saline solutions, put this one, put that on.  I have to take a huge collection of gauze and tape.  I  am not supposed to get it wet from a shower, can't go into pools or  rivers to swim (bacteria).  I may find myself cheating a bit in Sturgis.  It is going to be hot, there is a pond, I will be in it.

Reminds me, we need sunscreen.  I am not nearly tanned enough to be able to handle South Dakota  sun.

Not to be a complete killjoy or overly cautious, but I've seen lots of toes and feet amputated from little infections that don't get the treatment that they need. Make sure you have stuff to clean it with after you get out of that pond.

Oh I do. I have a whole collection of things that I do to my toe daily. It is no longer infected and it is healing, slowly but is healing.

To cut down on the amount of bacteria (or at least make it more difficult), I will bag the toe with a sandwhich bag. Really will only slow down the amount of water that gets to it (and I will have on swim shoes). Really depends how hot it is.

Cant you bag it while in the pond/river/shower/whatever?

I can and will but it does not completely eliminate water getting in.
