The house we now own
Mark has spent over 16 hours painting the small kitchen dark green. It looks great but the stupid walls are textured so there is always something that needs touching up. Plus more touching up once the painter's tape came down.
Note to self: primer in color first.
I knew that. I cut in around the bookcases and windows/sliding doors in the living room and dining room. Still need to do the all, some fussy stuff by the front door. I am not being as anal with the carpet. We know it is coming up, lay the laminate, put up trim (this house does not have baseboards). The house was an ivory before and we are going white white in the livng room, dining room, hall and foyer. I'll amuse my self while waiting for the new fridge to be delivered. It will be great to have cold water and ice there while we are working on the house.
If I get my edging done, I so want to make Tuesday a stay and home and don't put a bra on day. More likely to be a stay in bed as long as I can. I am too old for this crap. I don't mind fussy painting as long as I can sit my fat ass down and just paint then. I don't think I am going to do any trim until we get back from vacation.
It was well over 100 today and supposed to be 105 tomorrow. I don't know how I am going to stand the heat at Sturigs. I told Mark we would be spending a lot to time in Wally World during this rally. I'd just go hang in Deadwood but SD allows smoking - my lungs, eyes and head would be hurting so bad.
I think I am actually getting sleepy. Mark said he found me asleep on the toilet last night. He just left me there. I don't remember that at all.
House: you can spit out my memory card. Thanks for spitting out my missing phone, we'll switch out sims and use those in Sturgis. If we lose them, just need to get a new sim card.

The initial outlay can be a bit much, rollers, brushes, paint trays, painter's tape, ladders, etc. Since you don't own the house, cheaper quality of paint will do. Satin or flat is good for the walls, semi-gloss for bathrooms and kitchens, high gloss for trim if painted.
It is not hard to paint. I am just too old to be crawling around on the floor cutting in on the walls near the floor. You cut in around doors, windows, floor, ceiling, etc so then you can just roll on the paint on the rest of the wall. I always use a corner edger too to cover the corners of the rooms (rollers don't get close enough).
I am going to love my fussy painting by the front door, opportunities to sit and paint. Not so much when I have to be standing on the step stool.

And you think just paint from Wal-Mart would do? And what kind of colours go with what? I've never taken an art class and just know that black goes with everything except brown *g* Do you paint all the walls or do you do like one wall one colour etc? Gah so many questions! I'm sorry!
But it sounds like it shouldn't be too hard...just buying all the supplies. But once you buy them you can keep them and use them the next time you paint.
But yeah, I know Wal-Mart is cheap...would you trust their supplies or would you suggest something like Home Depot?

You have to decide if you want to do the entire room or just an accent wall. I watch a lot of The Learning Channel and Home and Garden TV (on cable) and get ideas from that.
A color wheel will help you with seeing what color family compliments your main color. The paint chips offer some choices.
I would start with looking at paint chips and see what colors you are drawn to. Google painting and there should be some how to vidoes out there.

Maybe I can watch some TLC when we get cable and get some ideas that way. I didn't even think about that.
And I'll pick up some colours at Wal-Mart next time I'm there and keep them handy once all the furniture is in.
Thanks for answering my questions :)
