Now I feel like shit

Remember lazy family? The ones who don't shovel the snow, beat us to the snow blower, rarely mow the lawn (that was my summer rant)? Their youngest son was on the news tonight. Seems he missed too many days of school last year due to illness (missed what it was but enough to put him in the hospital) and he was sent to the alternative school. Recently, his father (who works for the Army Corp of Engineers) was sent to Iraq, Mom has muscular dystrophy, child is now working 40 hours a week at 3 different jobs to support the family so child is still at Alternative school. He wants to graduate with his friends at the high school but can't because he can't go to school for 4 classes (from now until spring) since he still needs to work. He wants to petition the school board to change the rules so he can walk.
Shit, shit, shit. I know there are holes in the story (why are the circumstances different since Dad is gone, he is still getting paid?). It is a shame that I had to learn this off of the news.
Ok, they get the snow blower first, I won't bitch anymore. The caretaker in me wants to step in and fix it. Yes, I know there are lots of kids who work full time and go to school but it isn't right that they have to do it. This is his fun year. Poor kid.
Shit shit shit. Damn, damn, damn. If the news puts the info on the web site I will post the link.
