I had walked around this house and peered in windows.  I wrote it off because of purely cosmetic reasons, needs this, needs that, needs roof,  didn't like the yard, etc., etc. etc.

Went back and revisited it last night getting inside.  It is huge.  Lots of ugly paneling in the lower half.  Has 5 bedrooms, some strange office that is in bad shape, one of the lower level bedrooms comes with the sprinkler control box.   Somewhere in that house, there is a carpeted bathroom.  I missed that trend but all of my bathrooms here are carpeted - one of the reasons I don't want to buy the house we are renting.  The upper portion of the house looks to be in good enough shape, I can live in it and work on any issues that need to be taken care off.   It is across from the park so I might just activate the alarm system since we will be out of town for so long this summer.  There is no privacy fence, the yard is huge - needs some work but is big as hell.  No privacy fence, just chain link.  That is an expense that can wait.  Maybe the people who live behind us will be wonderful.

For those of you who want to see it - go to http://www.joelane.com/search-mls.php, MLS 151166.  This is not the listing company but I have been using that website to do my house search.  Really good web site for that.

My realtor is working things up today.  The hot water heater alone cost 1K.  We need to buy a fridge, have to measure and see how big I can go - must have crushed ice capability.  New heat pump, yeah for that.  I think I would like to build a new deck - can not stand how low the ceiling seems.  If not new deck, then strip and seal current deck (after adding parts).  I hpe the issues (other than the roof) are purely cosmetic and we can get the seller to put a new roof on the house.

It just might work out.    I am starting to think about where to put my stuff.  I did that with the last house not knowing we had clueless spouse to deal with.  Oh god, the paneling.  I am so afraid of what is behind it and how much dry wall we need to put up.  Gotta watch more HGTV and TLC.

We will probably put the chest freezer and extra fridge in one of the back rooms down stairs.  I can make that entire area into a pantry.  The other room can become "chele land" where the over flow to clothing can go.  Mark can make me a Croc rack and I can find which Croc I want to wear (right now, only one at a time) without shifting through the jumble at the bottom of one of the closets.

At least this house is empty and doesn't come with a woman who is totally clueless regarding information on her home (taxes per year, what they paid for the house, etc.), who doesn't have any authorization to sell the house - I know you hate your soon to be ex but get him involved with this so you could be  done with him (except for visitation issues).

The asking price is below what the house sold for previously.

Wow! In our neighborhood, we haven't seen the issues with the housing market yet. There is an 830 sq foot rowhouse (just like ours) up for sale for the same price as the one you have posted here! I don't know if they'll get it, but they will probably get close.

Look at all that space!!

We are so not paying that price with the roof issue, the screens are missing on the lower level, the sliding door does not lock, the breaker box will need to be replaced. I can hear the money being sucked right out of our bank account as I type.

The house was sold in 2005 for $233.500. It will be interesting to see if the lower price is supposed to reflect the cost of replacing the roof.
