Let me begin with how much I love her humor (along with her politics). She had an HBO special on tonight. I haven't laughed this hard is quite sometime, even more than I laughed at Robin Williams's latest. Tonight would have been a good night to have TVO. I will have to check when it comes on again and tape it. I might even try the straight to DVD burn.

Her riff on 9/11 - priceless. It was the Fontaine character. The next set was Earlene and girl things. This set might not resonant with men but it will hit home with the girls, esp. if you are of a certain age. For you young kids, it is just a taste of what is to come. I kept pounding the bed so hard when I was laughing that I upset the cats. The last set was poignant, made you think and it ended on that type of reflective note.

She still has it.

I love Whoopie. My fave movie of hers is still Jumpin' Jack Flash. I have it on VHS, even. :-)

I had a cassette tape of an HBO special she did in the 80s...probably 1984 or 1985. I would listen to it over and over-- Fontaine was my favorite. Hilarious and emotional-- Fontaine goes to Amsterdam and visits the Anne Frank House.
