So, I guess the rule is, molest away if you are short?

Granted, I don't know everything about the case - what the 2 counts were, how old the minor was, etc. but at face value, does not look good.

The Nebraska Attorney General is filing an appeal for the sentencing stating that he should NOT receive special treatment due to his height-- basically saying it's reverse discrimination.

He had sex with his fiancee's (hopefully his former fiancee) 12-year-old daughter.

Ok, but he was found not guilty of rape (which means that there was NO penetration of the victim by any method, at least that is what it means in WA and SC), at least according to something I read. Sexaul assault and rape are two different things and could be as minor (not that it is minor) as touching of the breasts.

Guess I need more details. From my years of investigating child sexual abuse, I have seen people who have done worse walk out without any criminal charges period.

Is there something different in the Nebraska prison system than the California prison system? At Walden House many years ago, I remember we had one client who was freshly released from San Quentin and all of 4'8".

yeah - def need more info for an informed opinion on this one. Wish our prison system didn't suck so much that this would even be an issue! Prisons are meant to remove people from society - to punish them for their crimes. To rehabilitate. Not to put someone into a place where they will be abused and raped and taught how to be better criminals. bah.

Depending on the circumstances of the crime, this could be suitable punishment. But this guy better be watched like a hawk. Any little slip and probation time is over. (plus the victims should be ok with this. (I'm including the girls parents here)

I read this and read your comments too and then tried to partially rationalize the issue....i.e. he was 20 having sex with a 17 year old and her parents got upset and had him arrested...etc...but I have to be honest, even this sounds like excusing something that shouldn't be excused with a slap on the wrist. Maybe.

That being said, IF this guy actually had inappropriate contact with a 10-12 year old or younger...this judge is COMPLETELY off her freakin' rocker. I agree though...more information is definitely needed than is provided in the article to determine the appropriate level of outrage. The thing is though, the article says up front "child". So, unless the reporter is overextending that definition, this guy should be thrown in with the other animals and locked up for the rest of his life. I don't care how "small" he is.

AND, they should forcibly remove certain body parts.....

Rehabilitation is part of the mission statement for some, but not all, prison systems. The Federal BoP, for one, does *not* include rehabiliation.

I'm ignorant and don't know what BoP stands for.... but I understand that rehab wouldn't be a priority for lifers. Anything less then that - it would just be stupid not to. (and our federal government would never do anything stupid (snork)).

Bureau of Prisons, and, well...
