The original story as I heard it (WTOP - news radio) was the dishwasher only gets rid of a #% of germs (details not remembered, but it was a low #). Microwaving for x minutes kills x%. (very high impressive number.)
What they forgot is that people are STUPID. Seems like some forgot everything they may have known about how to microwave anything.
