Some background.  Years ago I was very active in the local demo party, I was even treasurer for a year.  The stress and drama was too much, I just walked away.  Fast forward to February of this year and the caucuses.  I felt myself being sucked in but I was still resisting.

I went to my first meeting in 4 years on my last day at Amazon.  Guess I didn't think I would have enough stress in my life once I was no longer working.  From there I got talked into helping the fund raising committee put on an event.  Suddenly, I am in charge of the door and getting the money from people.  Ok, as long as someone gets me bodies.

One of the fund raising events of the evening was to sell raffle tickets for baskets.  The woman in charge of that had not a clue, she was going to make up 4 baskets exactly alike, nope we told her they had to be different, with a theme (coffee basket, family game night, whatever)  I offered her several  political books and campaign pins, stickers, etc.  She didn't want to do that but took the stuff anyways.  She thought it would be ok to add a political books to each theme basket and she couldn't (more like wouldn't) use the old campaign materials.  I made her give me everything back and I said I would take care of them.

Today was voting for delegates for the state convention.  We also raffled off a basket.  Not a biggie, I made up something cute and we did  well on it.  During the time before the convention started, we had been selling raffle tickets.  I had been up and down these 3 stairs all morning.  We were at a hgh school.  There were  four steps down from the stage, a landing and then 3 more steps.  For some reason, in the middle of a candidate's speech, I needed to go down the final 3 steps.  I just didn't use the steps and took a lovely fall right in front of a room of 400 people.  First words out of my mouth was that I was ok  (I lied on that one) and I noted that my attorney was right over there pointing to the county prosecutor.

I really did not think I had hurt myself but as the day went on my left foot began throbbing.  It began to swell up and change colors.  I was pretty sure if I could move my toes, I had not broken anything.  This was verified by a doctor in the house.  I hobbled home (pushing the clutch in was a fun fill experience), took 2 oxys which have not touched the pain.  The foot is swollen, bruised and the bruising is also on my ankle (both sides).

The timing could not be worse.  I still have a ton of baskets to make up.  Tuesday night is the fund raiser so I need to have the baskets completed by Monday so Mark can put them in the car (since I can't lift over 5 pounds).  Not to mention that we needed to decorate before the event.

I'm used to falling.  Even in front of people, just not this many people or this much of an injury.

Fuck.

Go to the damn doctor, woman.

An actress on my last show fell off the stage and thought she was fine -- but she broke all the bones in the top of her foot and had to have 2 surgeries to repair the damage.

My foot has not turned black, it is a lovely shade of grey. The pain is not over the top and I can get around - slowly, stairs are a bitch. If I don't see any improvement (or more discoloration), I will go. When I fell, there was no pain, it developed over the day.

Not necessarily true. There are a lot of tiny bones in there - please get checked out. And request HELP. Admit this is worse then you first thought. Hopefully someone that doesn't think they have enough time to really volunteer will step up in an 'emergency' (ok, it's not quite an emergency, but...)
(I hope you didn't do anything to slow down the healing from your surgery!)

So far there does not seem to be any issues from the surgery. That was the first thing I thought of, everything seems normal and i have no pain there.
