I went over to Seattle this past weekend, leaving at half past dawn Saturday morning and returning Sunday afternoon.  I needed to attend a Longaberger event and really just needed an excuse to come over and bother [profile] dantc, which I got to do!

It rained the whole drive over with snow flurries on the ridge and from Elk Heights on to just past the pass on 90.  It was sluxhy at the top but not bad.  Helped that it was so early in the morning.  I should have left even earlier since I had so much on my agenda for Saturday (and Sunday was busy too).

I hit the commissary at Bangor to pick up coffee for Mark, gas was more expensive on base than it was in town and more than it is here - 2.61 a gallon.  Yikes.  I stopped at the quilt shop in Poulsbo but there was nothing there that caught my fancy.  I decided to not do one of my agenda items so that I could make the ferry in Bainbridge.

I had not driven on the hills of Seattle since I got a stick again.  Marion Street was rather interesting to say the least.  Rather than keep burning out my clutch to get up to 5th, I decided to take 1st over to Denny.  What a traffic nightmare that was until I got past Belltown.  Checked into the Holiday Inn Express at Seattle Center and just took a cab to the event which was at 6th and Madison.

I got to see the new products and got 2 prizes.  The first one was a cosmetic bag in one of the new purse fabrics.  The way to win that prize was a Wish List savenger hunt and the first to jump up with the page number won.  It was very disorganized and there was no way of telling who was up first, so they just tossed the bags into the crowd and I beat out a kid for it.  She was disappointed but wasn't even standing.  I did decide to myself that if I won a free Bee registration (that is Longaberger's yearly convention) that I would give her the bag.  I won, and having been watching My Name is Earl, I understood karma and quickly gave her the bag.  She was so thrilled.  Karma will play another part in my weekend.

Went back to the hotel and as evidenced by my posting, took the night night drugs and thought I could type.  Amused the hell out of Mark when he read it and found it very funny that I could get the last sentence correct.  I blame the laptop.  I did remember to set the clock ahead so that I could hit Trader Joes before meeting up with Dantc.  I managed to do a whirlwind tour of Trader Joes, getting several bottles of 2 Buck Chuck, which is 3 Buck Chuck in Washington and some of their macaroni and cheese.

Knowing how difficult parking is in Queen Anne, I decided to leave the car at Joe's and walk up the baby hill to the 5 Spot.  Dan was outside and we got a table right away (5 Spot is the place to be on Sunday mornings in Queen Anne).  We had a wonderful time getting to know each other and I got to be Mommy Bear a bit.  Can't help it!  Dan went to Joe's to go shopping and I headed out.  I needed to stop at a cheesesteak shop in the 2000 block of Madison Street.  Mapquest lies but I managed to find it and get some of that Philly goodness (which is not that good outside of Philly, wrong rolls and those sandwiches were not that big).

Next stop was the outlet mall in Northbend.  Nothing at Vanity Fair that I was willing to spend money on.  So, I began my rush home, I needed to be back by 5.  Here comes the left over karma.  I was on the phone with Mark going about 80-85 when I decided that I was going too fast to be talking on the phone and needed to hang up and pay attention.  I slowed down to the speed limit and not 10 miles down the road noticed pretty flashing lights.  3 state troopers with 3 cars pulled over.  I never even saw the unmarked car taking pictures, I did see one further along working the west bound side.

Got home in plenty of time, very tired, I want my hour of sleep back now!
