For those of you inclined....
Apr. 29th, 2006 06:43 pmAn old friend's daughter had her baby Easter Sunday morning. Brittney was only 29 weeks along when she had to have an emergency C-section. Shyanne was only 2 pounds 14 ounces. Brittney was on total bed rest (and was in the hospital) but she got some sort of infection, spiked a fever so they had to take Shyanne then. Shyanne has had a blood transfusion, on and off the ventilator, heart problems (they keep putting her on the ventilator to take the strain off her heart, jaundice, is wetting and poohing so those organs are ok, she is being fed through a tube. She is now 3 pounds and is currently off the respirator but has but has bradycardia episodes.
This little girl has such a long road ahead of her. Mom doesn't have a car and the hospital is not on a bus route. I will be going over to the westside Thursday so plan on taking Brit to the hospital so she can see the baby. I am assuming that daddy takes her at night when he gets off work. Mom is only 18 and has not have a good parenting model to learn from. I love her mother to death but my friend has made some terrible choices in her life and her kids suffered the most.
I haven't made her anything for the baby yet, to be honest (and it sounds terrible), I needed to see if Shyanne was going to make it. I didn't want to contribute to Brittney's pain by having something else to put away.
So, for those of you inclined to say a few little prayers to the various dieties, I would most appreciate it.
