Or as Bill Engvil would say - Here' your sign - stay the hell away from sharp objects.

I had a long entry that just disappeared and refused to come back.

You know the plastic thing with metal prongs that you are supposted to shove into what ever veggie you are planning on slicing on the handy dandy Pampered Chef slicer? It seems to be important, very important. Can you see where this story is going?

I was going to slice onion for making cheese steaks. The Eagles were on Monday Night Football and I needed to see if the making and eating of a cheese steak is what jinxed them. Sorry Philly. My onions are huge because I use Walla Walla onion, big nice sweet onions. The previously mentioned plastic thing would not work on the onions - they were too big.

I figured I could slice the onion down and not cut my fingers off. I was wrong. I didn't cut the whole figer but a good piece of it. It took over an hour to get the thing to stop bleeding, I soaked through the first bandages that Mark put on in about 10 minutes. I just added more and more tape so that I could finish dinner (and slicing more onions but I did use the holder this time).

There was something so wrong about us "playing Doctor" and a. There were no naughty bits being shown and b. I was still cooking dinner, stirring the steak, onions and mushrooms together.

We just changed the bandage - Mark suited up into his bio-hazard gloves this time. It has finally stopped bleeding and I could see how much of a chunk I took off. Pretty good amount of the tip of my left thumb is missing, from mid-nail to a little past the nail. Never did find the piece that I cut off, wonder which one of us had it for dinner?

This does make this upcoming weekend a bit more of an adventure. I just emailed my traveling buddy and asked her if she would be willing to slice up the veggies that go with her salad when we get there.

My "gifts" are cookies in a jar. Gets rid of a dozen Longaberger totes and 1 qt. canning jars plus matching bonnets on the top of the jar. Little raffia and I am done. I might be forcing Chris to do that too.

Wonder if I can get everyone to cut my material too?

I will spare everyone pictures.
