Freezing Fog
Dec. 13th, 2005 06:26 amI live in the Tri-Cities area of Washington state. It could also be called the Tri-Rivers area (or 3 Rivers but that was taken by Pittsburgh). In winter we got fog (3 bodies of water = fog), when all factors are correct, you get freezing fog.
We had that yesterday. This means I am effectively inside a cloud, where it is lightly, finely snowing. It is a dry snow so just blows right off your car. It does leave the trees beautiful (I took pictures, as soon as I get around to getting an account and things loaded up, you will all get to see). I hope I have more today.
It does make the roads a little slick but not much. It is not as slippery as black ice (and not as dangerous, since you can see the light dusting of cloud snow). I did notice a few houses who didn't get much sun yesterday still had their driveway's covered in frozen fog. For days, the car has had frost on the windows (going down into the teens can have that effect). Nothing yesterday, just the dusting of fog.
I would love some real snow, inches and inches of it.
