Yesterday, I called my employer to verify what time I needed to be at the Pendleton Round-Up, where do I go, blah blah.  Lauri called me at 7 or so, verified 9:30 today and 11:30 the rest of the week.  Cool.

I head out at the crack of dawn (it is 80 miles one way) to make sure I am there in plenty of time and allow for getting lost, can't find check-in etc.  I walk in at 9 to be told 11:00 was my time, so what, I "only" had to wait 2 hours.  I could have been doing something else with my time, LIKE SLEEP???

I called into my base and told Lauri what had happened.  Lauri knew nothing about hours being changed and that is hot how you do things within the organization.  I then reparkled my car and went back to check-in to see if we could get this cleared up.  I walked into the trailer and this man asked me who I was.  I told him Michele and I was supposed to begin at 9:30.  He bit my head off, told me I was not needed until 11:00 and then he went out the door.  My only response to him was "Are you are?????"  His response was this was his event and his name was Mike.

Calling Lauri yet again.  She told me just to hang, I would get paid from 9:30 and they would get it straight between the two offices.  Mike then walked up to me and apologized for snapping and I expressed my frustration that I had had my hours verified last night and I didn't appreciate having to get up at the crack of dawn (5 am) and then stand around until 11.  He told me I could go home, I was off his crew and I could call Yakima all I wanted to.   I told him I would do that, not a problem.

3rd phone call to Lauri.  WTF?  He did what?  I understand at this point it is a battle between managers and Phil would back me up.  They will also pay me my travel time to and from the event so I got at least 3 to 4 hours of pay for doing nothing.  I kept asking is Mike always this much of an asshole?

This means I don't have any work for the rest of the week.   Which should work out since I need to change meds and the new ones will make me sick to my stomach for a while.  Goody, maybe another 10 pounds can come off.

Still no word on the job front.  Mark doesn't think he is going to get laid off, there are some who are less qualified than he and once the sodium is drained, they won't have anything to do.  Plus his old manager went to bat for him defending his position.  No lay off means we are going  camping with the leather crowd.  Lay off means we both are working the Central Washington State Fair.  Boring.
