Owie, Owie, Owie
Jul. 19th, 2005 04:00 amI am a clutz, it is a fact. I can trip over air, changes of color in the carpeting, tiny stones. Last night was no exception.
I stubbed my foot, between the little toe and number 4 on a door. Didn't think anything of it, can't even remember which door got me. It is not like the doors are new, they have been here for as long as I've lived here. No excuses.
I went to bed (several times). I fell asleep early, woke up to see Queer as Folk (will miss that show when it goes off), went back to sleep and woke up again and noticed my little toe was hurting, a lot, about as much as my finger did when I broke it a couple of years ago (when I fell, flat, face down, no reason). Looked down and saw blood, under and on the nail, on the sheets, etc. When I stubbed my toe/foot, I must have lifted the nail up from the bed. Ewwww. I cleaned it up as much as I could stand (did I mention pain???), wrapped it up in some guaze and tape (little toes are not very easy to gauze up), dug out some old vicodin and took that.
Vicodin? I had forgotten that it makes my skin itch, that I don't like having any clothing on. And it did not put me to sleep as well as I wanted. I don't know if it was the pain or the itchy skin, but I work up every 1/2 hour, from 1:30 on. Finally gave up at 4 am.
This means this is my second Longaberger Bee that I have an injured foot for. Last year, I tore my right big toe up using the moving sidewalk (I tripped when the luggage got caught), dripped bodily fluids all over the place (and didn't have any pain meds with me of course). Now this year is the left toe. If I win Beeline for Baskets, I will have to hire someone to run it for me (that means less baskets for me, I would have to pay them with something!).
Not to mention, Day is esp. clingy right now and is draped around my shoulder and neck (from the front). I think she wants me to go back to bed. Might as well, I can't type with her clawing for a foot hold on my boobs.
Bummer.

Date: 2005-07-20 12:03 am (UTC)I am surprised that it did not hurt as much as it should have when I first did the stubbing. I don't even remember looking down to see if there was any damaged.
I am watching it so it doesn't get infected. How is the neck/headache?

Date: 2005-07-20 12:08 am (UTC)One time I wore a pair of shoes that was a little too small for me, and I ended up with a blood blister under my big toe that lasted for 8 months. It was Lovely.
My Grammom had her toenails removed too. I get the shivers from thinking about it-- like when I hear someone scrape a fork against their teeth. I hope your toe heals quickly!
