-Mrs. Robinson is dead
Jun. 7th, 2005 03:42 pmAnne Brancroft passed away yesterday from cancer.
Edited to add:
I had not remembered that she had been married to Mel Brooks since 1956, they almost made 50 years. She was a wonderful actress.
I have been semi-following drama first mentioned by dantc . Those who know me know that I had to add my 2 cents into it.
Quick background: A teenager posted what I considered to be innocent comment/observation about another class mate, including putting their full name in the LJ (ok, these are teenagers, innocent might not be the right word). The classmate's mother (Terri) got into it, threatening to call the FBI, kid's mommy's and she is spinning out of control, Bible thumping in the middle of accusing these kids of practically crimes against the state, not quite sure where the prayer said at Bush's inauguration fits in but it is there. Link to the drama is here: http://www.livejournal.com/users/_peachstatement/11971.html?page=1#comments
Settle in for some hysterical reading (if one is offended by teenager's lack of vocabulary skills and great knowledge of all 4 letter words, quit now). Instead of nicely asking the LJ owner to delete her son's last name and dropping it there, she went on a hissy fit that any toddler would admire and decided to take on a bunch of teenagers who have nothing better to do but respond back and keep it going.
My comment is on page 6 but I will copy it here:
"Ok boys and girls, this is what teenagers do, they make fun of someone else. Your precious son probably did to someone else too. This behavior obviously continues for some into parenthood. The original posted stated a fact, an observance, that when Simon (you may have set your child up for some ridicule with that name) most of the class sat in silence or laughed. There was an observance of what the original poster thought Simon's life must be like. Observances, facts do not equal slander or libel. And, for you to be financially rewarded for a libel comment (libel is written, slander is spoken) you have the burden of proof to that you were financially impacted by the words written. You don't have a case.
Drop it Terri. You aren't going to win, no one wrote anything disparaging about your little boy (who I hope is going to college far far away). You have stirred the pot and continued to stir the pot. Lets see, my pop psych courses thinks you might have a personality disorder and some time with a reputable therapist might be a good idea. Everyone can benefit from therapy, even you Terri. Therapy might teach you what to do with all the anger you seem to have. Have you considered a hobby or going back to work?
Play nice kiddies.
Oh, and Terri? Reread your posts and discover spell check. That's a good little girl."
I kept some of my sarcasm in check (the first draft was worse, believe me), but not all of it was checked, I didn't call her any of the names that others did, Terri does have a spelling problem, she did make up new name for stalking (I tried to find it but there are way too many posts going on!).
This is what I got back (the comment is screened right now, I am assuming it was crazy mommy.
Subject: Please don't flatter yourself
Chel-le-lev...
You must not flatter yourself to much hun by thinking that I would consider any of your advice? LOL!
Ok, spell my name wrong, things are going down. And, no one, but no one, calls me "hun". I am pretty sure my relatives do not include Attila but to be honest, I have not traced either side back that far yet.
Maybe I should call Ms. Green's mommy and tell her what a nut job she raised.
